There has been a farm or dwelling at Pennance Vean, near Hayle in beautiful West Cornwall for over 400 years. Tucked down in a fold to shelter it from the elements yet enjoying stunning views down to St Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse (inspiration for Virginia Woolf’s novel “To the Lighthouse”) this little corner of Cornwall has golden sands that stretch for three sweeping miles, spectacular world-class surf and unique sand dunes that form a continuous nature reserve.

Today, Pennance Vean continues as a working farm situated on 20 acres, with a farmhouse and single holiday let converted from a granite barn and providing luxury self catering accommodation for up to six guests. Pennance Vean Farm is the perfect location to relax, explore, walk, watch the seals at Godrevy or just look and listen to the skylarks in summer, migrating birds in spring or the sound of the ocean breaking on the rocks in winter. And then there are the spectacular sunsets and clear light that has drawn artists to Cornwall for years.

Located at almost the narrowest point between north and south coasts, beaches, harbours and granite cliffs are all nearby. Gwithian Beach and the Southwest Coast Path are both just a short walk from Pennance Vean Farm. The A30, 5 minutes away, provides easy access to almost all parts of Cornwall – sub-tropical gardens, fishing villages, castles and major attractions such as St Michael’s Mount, The Eden Project and Tate St Ives. Picturesque St. Ives is only a 15-minute drive away, and just beyond, West Penwith – the far west of Cornwall around Land’s End - is an area of outstanding natural beauty with it stark landscapes – home to Winston Graham’s Poldark novels – and the ancient walled field systems.

For foodies, West Cornwall boasts an expanding selection of eclectic, intimate  and innovative restaurants – all within a few miles. The Red River Inn, The Sandsifter and Godrevy Café are all within a few minutes walk. A short drive takes you to St Ives, with its impressive selection of acclaimed restaurants.
